Denzel Washington may bail out Will Smith on Uptown project
By Isabella
Denzel Washington may sign on for a remake of the Sidney Poitier directed comedy Uptown Saturday Night.
Hollywood superstar Will Smith bought the remake rights to the story in 2002 and is working to develop the project.
The original movie that starred Poitier and Bill Cosby tells the tale of two friends who have their wallets stolen after they sneak out to visit a legendary but illegal nightclub. The clincher is a winning lottery ticket in Cosby’s wallet.
Smith has reportedly held talks with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence about co-starring in the flick but the project has not had lift-off.
