Once again trumping speculation, Mischa Barton appeared at the premiere party for The Beautiful Life looking just smashing.

Barton cut a cool 40s-like figure in a beautiful yet simple gown. She joined the likes of Demi Moore and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, who is executive producer of the series.

Barton has re-spun her recent hospital stay in a psychiatric ward as something that came out of problem wisdom teeth. “Really it was blown out of proportion,” she said on US television.

Some of her peers had expressed concern when Barton flew straight from Los Angeles, after her hospital stay, to New York for work on the series. But Barton keeps coming up trumps, and looking better by the week. She was joined by co-stars on the series about aspiring models, Sara Paxton and Ashley Madekwe, for the bash which was held in the fashionable Meatpacking District.

Barton said in her TV interview: “I had two surgeries – I had four [teeth] taken out and it had gone really badly wrong – they had to drill into my jaw and I was just in excruciating pain. I was having Novocaine shots every day to minimise the pain. It really was rock bottom. If you go into the hospital, and you’re having a meltdown, and you say something like: “I feel like I want to die,” they hold you – they won’t let you go.”
