Matthew McConaughey says his father gave him a lesson about “messing around” with girls

Matthew McConaughey says one of the “great lessons” his dad taught him was about “messing around” with girls.

The actor says his father gave him the advice about “life and chicks” when he joined him on road trips as a pre-teen.

The 39-year-old says his late father Jim McConaughey once told him: “If you ever make a move, whether it’s for a kiss or touching her down there, and you feel the slightest bit of resistance, stop.

“A lot of times, after you stop, they’re going to then say: ‘Now it’s OK’. Don’t. That time, that day, that’s as far as you go.

“You do that, and you know what? Women do come back. They say: ‘What? Nobody stops!’”

McConaughey reveals this story to Men’s Journal where he talks about his love of road trips.

His father ‘Big’ Jim died in 1992 while making love to the actor’s mother Mary Kathleen.

The couple divorced and remarried twice. McConaughey, their youngest, was born in November 1969 when Jim was 41.

And he has already shared the experience with his nine-month-old son Levi and the child’s mother, his girlfriend Camila Alves.

In November 2008, the family of three covered 7,206 miles in McConaughey’s Airstream Trailer.
